Wanna be a Patroller

•How do I become Involved

National Ski Patrol members are people with a strong desire to help others. People who want to learn - and use - emergency care skills, improve their skiing or snow boarding, and help make mountain recreation safer for all. If this sounds like you, read on and find out how you can join our team.

Pre-requirements
The Welch Ski Patrol is looking for individuals who demonstrate an ability to ski all Welch terrain under all conditions.This will be determined primarily through the ski test try out Late winter.
What you'll learn

A first aid course designed to give you the skill to help and transport people off the slopes

Time commitment

The OEC (Outdoor emergency Care) is approx. an 8 week course, meeting twice a week for 4 hours each night. In addition to the reading for class, a workbook is also expected to be completed by the end of the course. Written, skill & practical tests will be taken at the end of the course . Typical course runs from mid-September thru November

Ski Pro – Improve your skiing skills and learn how to maneuver a toboggan Again about an 8-week course with one day a week for 4 hour. In addition, a candidate is expected to sign up for a shift sometime during the week/weekend

Investment

The OEC books and fee are $65.00

Ski Pro - no Charge

Upon qualifying the membership dues to the patrol are $70.00

Once I'm qualified, what are the expectations?

You are expected to purchase a red jacket, a pack, and first aid supplies. You are expected to ski/patrol a minimum of one shift per week. If you want to do more - you are more than welcome
